My Story
Somewhere between juggling three beautiful kids, working, and trying to be Supermum, I found myself in a body I didn’t recognize. I couldn't really blame the kids (as tempting as that was!) - it was me, eating on the run, finishing their leftovers, and grabbing whatever was quick and easy.
Before I knew it, I was the same weight as when I was pregnant, except this time, there was no baby to show for it. Just me, feeling frumpy and frustrated.
And I hated it!
The Reality... I was not happy
I hated looking in the mirror and seeing the reflection staring back at me. I didn’t like who I had become. I felt sad, especially when trying on clothes - nothing fitted right, and I avoided looking at myself from the side because it just made me feel worse. I stopped wanting to go out, dreaded having my photo taken, and didn’t even feel sexy anymore. I felt stuck in a body that didn’t feel like mine.
Shopping became an emotional rollercoaster. In my mind, I was still a size 10-12, but reality hit when I had to grab size 14s... and then 16s. I'd storm out of fitting rooms vowing not to buy the next size up, only to feel so deflated that I wanted to drown my sorrows in a block of chocolate.

Like many, I turned to all the quick fixes - shake diets (which were fun for about two weeks, but I wanted to eat real food), the dreaded cabbage soup diet (if you've tried it, you know what I am talking about), and even intense exercise routines that left me exhausted but did nothing to shift the numbers on the scales. I was doing everything right - or so I thought. But my weight just wouldn't budge. It felt like my body was working against me.
Now, in my 50s, I feel stronger, healthier, and more energetic than I did in my 20s.
My Lightbulb Moment
I attended a seminar on digestion and metabolism, and suddenly, everything clicked. My body wasn’t broken—I just wasn’t giving it what it needed. I went home, made some simple changes, and within a week… BOOM! The weight started coming off. My energy soared, my clothes fit better, and for the first time in years, I felt like me again.
I knew I couldn’t keep this to myself. That’s how the Back to Basics Healthy Living Program was born. I made a promise this wouldn’t be another complicated, restrictive diet. It had to be simple, practical, and family-friendly (because let’s be real, who has time to cook separate meals?!).
